There is a graduate student opening in my group, to work on detector development. The instrumentation will involve the development of the first radio frequency cameras and will be done in a new lab in Cahill in collaboration with Senior Research Fellow Kieran Cleary, JPL and engineers at the OVRO. The scientific focus of this effort is the study of B-mode polarization, the detction of which at large angular scales would demonstrate that the universe went through an early phase of inflation, and also the study of astronomical foregrounds and associated instrumentation and to participate in the renaissance of activity currently going on at the Owens Valley Radio Observatory (OVRO). If you are looking for a thesis project and are interested in this program please contact Professor Tony Readhead at acr@astro.caltech.edu |
