TUESDAY, November 3
LIGO Seminar, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM, SCR 351 W. Bridge
"Newtonian-Noise Subtraction," Jan Harms, Minnesota.
Abstract:
Future-generation GW detectors including Advanced LIGO will be sensitive to perturbations of the gravity field produced by seismic fields. We review the current state of Newtonian-noise modeling and seismic-noise measurements.
An efficient method is presented to mitigate Newtonian noise, which brings
with it a list of problems, theoretical and experimental, that need to be
solved beforehand.
NOTE: From now on, all LIGO Seminars will be listed on the LIGO Seminars
Calendar as well as in these Announcements.
