Water-Wave Scattering Amplitudes and the Waterhedron
Francesco Calisto,
Caltech,
We report ongoing work applying scattering amplitude and effective field theory methods to study surface water waves, perturbatively in the surface displacement. The Lagrangian can be bootstrapped from the symmetries of the problem, which in turn imply soft theorems. In one spatial dimension, n-point amplitudes admit a closed formula with a geometric interpretation as the volume of a clipped simplex, which we call the Waterhedron.
