Solvable models of quantum annealing
Nikolai Sinitsyn, Nikolai Sinitsyn, CNLS Postdoctoral Research Associate, CNLS, Los Alamos National Laboratory,

In quantum annealing, coherent dynamics is arranged to solve a complex computational problem. Usually, the research on quantum annealing is heuristic, i.e., having no strong evidence for the efficiency of such computations. Nevertheless, exactly solvable models of explicitly time-dependent evolution of interacting spins can characterize both limitations and potential advantages of quantum annealing. I will review techniques to obtain such solutions and describe a few physical phenomena revealed by them: coherent thermalization, dynamic phase transitions, localization by quantum interference, and asymmetry amplification.
