Min-max constructions in noncompact manifolds

I will present a localization method in the min-max theory of minimal hypersurfaces. This tool enables a proof of the existence of minimal hypersurfaces, as well as hypersurfaces with prescribed mean curvature, in some noncompact manifolds.
