3-symmetric spaces, their moduli, and Ricci solitons

Riemannian 3-symmetric spaces are a natural generalization of the classical symmetric spaces of Cartan. Their classification has been open since the pioneering work of Gray and Wolf in the sixties, which focused on the semi-simple case. I will outline the full classification, stressing some of the more remarkable features including their rich moduli space structure. As a by-product, a very general construction of Ricci solitons is presented which is of independent interest.
