Kiran Shila
Overview
Kiran Shila received the B.S. and M.S. degrees (summa cum laude) in electrical engineering from the University of South Florida in 2018 and 2020, respectively. They completed their Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering at Caltech in 2025, focusing on ambient-temperature low noise amplifiers for the Deep Synoptic Array (DSA). They have held positions at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and the MITRE corporation, designing novel hardware for air and space-borne missions.
Kiran is currently a staff research engineer in radio astronomy at Caltech, designing hardware for the analog signal processor of the DSA. Their current research interests include next-generation radio astronomy instrumentation, room temperature and cryogenic low-noise amplifiers, and scientific computing.
