Mark B. Wise
Research Interests: Particle Physics, Cosmology, Nuclear Physics
Overview
Mark B. Wise is the John A. McCone Professor of High Energy Physics at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and a theoretical physicist known for his work in particle physics. His research focuses on the fundamental constituents of matter and their interactions, with key contributions to the development of heavy quark effective theory, enabling precise predictions in the study of strong interactions. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto and his Ph.D. from Stanford University, and has been a member of the Caltech faculty since the early 1980s. Professor Wise is a recipient of the Sakurai Prize for Theoretical Particle Physics and is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
