Process:
- Obtain written approval from PI
- Download and fill out the HR Detached Duty Form (the Division Office will handle the Chair's approval)
- Submit HR form to the Division for further approvals and processing

CBA Travel Section 1.
A Unit Member who has received prior-written approval from their supervisor to travel as part of the Unit Member's work duties, including conferences where appropriate, shall receive direct travel funding or timely reimbursement of expenses. All travel, funding, and reimbursement shall be performed in accordance with Institute and/or the applicable Division travel policy.
CBA Travel Section 2.
Bargaining Unit Members shall be provided insurance during work travel in accordance with the Institute's travel policies.
- Internationals: Foreign postdocs should consult with their international advisor before any work-related travel, as it may require advance review and updates to visa documentation.
- Vacation Days: Any additional days taken beyond work-related travel should be reported as vacation time. Please note that paid vacation eligibility for Postdoctoral Scholar Fellowship Trainees varies depending on the funding source.
- Extended Absences: Any absence exceeding three weeks requires prior approval from both the Division and HR. Requests to work from a vacation or family residence will not be approved.
