The Caltech Department of Mathematics, part of the Division of Physics, Mathematics and Astronomy (PMA), offers several named postdoctoral teaching fellowships for outstanding early-career mathematicians. Current and recent fellowships include the Harry Bateman, Sherman Fairchild, Phoebe Hearst, Scott Russell Johnson, Noether, Olga Taussky and John Todd Fellowships.

Fellows pursue independent research, preferably in an area in which Caltech mathematics faculty are active, including algebra, algebraic geometry, analysis, combinatorics, geometry and topology, mathematical logic, mathematical physics, number theory, and probability. Each fellow works with a faculty mentor and contributes to the department's teaching program.

Our alumni have gone on to distinguished careers across academia, research, and industry. Many now hold faculty and leadership positions at leading institutions around the world, while others are pursuing impactful careers in research and technology.
